                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to reimbursement for the costs of transportation of a
 1-3     student to a magnet school.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 42.155, Education Code, is amended by
 1-6     adding Subsection (k) to read as follows:
 1-7           (k)  The cost of transporting magnet school students from one
 1-8     campus to another inside a district or from a sending district to a
 1-9     magnet school in another district shall be reimbursed based on the
1-10     number of actual miles traveled times the district's official
1-11     extracurricular travel per mile rate as set by the board of
1-12     trustees and approved by the agency.
1-13           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
