                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to participation of cities and counties in the National
 1-3     Flood Insurance Program.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 16.3145, Water Code, is amended to read as
 1-6     follows:
 1-7           Sec. 16.3145.  NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM ORDERS OR
 1-8     ORDINANCES. (a)  This section does not apply to a county with a
 1-9     population of 20,000 or less.
1-10           (b)  The governing body of each city and county subject to
1-11     this section shall adopt ordinances or orders, as appropriate,
1-12     necessary for the city or county to be eligible to participate in
1-13     the National Flood Insurance Program.
1-14           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
