                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the languages in which the Department of Public Safety
 1-3     provides certain public notice regarding sex offenders.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Article 62.045(b), Code of Criminal Procedure, is
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  The department shall provide the notice in English and
 1-8     Spanish and shall include in the notice any information that is
 1-9     public information under this chapter.  The department may not
1-10     include any information that is not public information under this
1-11     chapter.
1-12           SECTION 2.  Article 62.0451(b), Code of Criminal Procedure,
1-13     is amended to read as follows:
1-14           (b)  The department shall provide the notice in English and
1-15     Spanish and shall include in the notice any information that is
1-16     public information under this chapter.  The department may not
1-17     include any information that is not public information under this
1-18     chapter.
1-19           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
