                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to sunset review of the Port of Houston Authority.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Chapter 117, Acts of the 55th Legislature, Regular
 1-5     Session, 1957, is amended by adding Section 7A to read as follows:
 1-6           Sec. 7A.  SUNSET COMMISSION REVIEW OF THE PORT OF HOUSTON
 1-7     AUTHORITY. The Port of Houston Authority is subject to review under
 1-8     Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset Act), but may not be
 1-9     abolished under that Act.  The review shall be conducted as if the
1-10     Authority were scheduled to be abolished September 1, 2003, and
1-11     September 1 of every 12th subsequent year.  The Authority shall pay
1-12     the costs of the review.
1-13           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
