                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to recognizing Texas Prayer Day.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is
 1-5     amended by adding Section 662.049 to read as follows:
 1-6           Sec. 662.049.  PRAYER DAY. The first Thursday in May of each
 1-7     year is Texas Prayer Day, to coincide with the National Day of
 1-8     Prayer, a day on which the people of Texas may turn to God in
 1-9     prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.
1-10           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
