                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to continuing education for a person licensed as a
 1-3     plumber.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 12B(c), The Plumbing License Law (Article
 1-6     6243-101, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as
 1-7     follows:
 1-8           (c)  For a person to receive credit for participation in a
 1-9     continuing professional education program or course, the program or
1-10     course must have been provided, according to the criteria adopted
1-11     by the Board, by:
1-12                 (1)  an individual, business, or association approved
1-13     by the Board; or
1-14                 (2)  the Texas Engineering Extension Service.
1-15           SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only to
1-16     continuing education offered on or after the effective date of this
1-17     Act.  Continuing education offered before the effective date of
1-18     this Act is governed by the law in effect on the day the continuing
1-19     education was offered, and that law is continued in effect for that
1-20     purpose.
1-21           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-22     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-23     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-24     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 2-1     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
