                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the waiver of penalties and interest on a delinquent ad
 1-3     valorem tax on certain property acquired by a religious
 1-4     organization.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Section 33.011(d), Tax Code, is amended to read as
 1-7     follows:
 1-8           (d)  A request for a waiver of penalties and interest under
 1-9     this section other than a request under Subsection (a)(2) must be
1-10     made before the 181st day after the delinquency date.
1-11           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-12     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-13     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-14     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-15     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
