                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to allocation of money for transportation projects.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, is
 1-5     amended by adding Section 201.708 to read as follows:
 1-6           Sec. 201.708.  ALLOCATION TO BORDER DISTRICTS. In determining
 1-7     projects to be undertaken and allocating money to its various
 1-8     districts, the department shall consider the department's districts
 1-9     adjacent to the border with Mexico to be a distinct category to be
1-10     given preference in relation to the amount and importance of
1-11     international trade using state transportation facilities in those
1-12     districts.
1-13           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
