                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation of a criminal offense for impersonating  a
 1-3     security officer regulated by the Texas Commission on Private
 1-4     Security.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Subchapter P, Chapter 1702, Occupations Code, is
 1-7     amended by adding Section 1702.3875 to read as follows:
 1-8           Sec. 1702.3875. IMPERSONATING SECURITY OFFICER; OFFENSE. (a)
 1-9     A person commits an offense if the person:
1-10                 (1)  impersonates a commissioned or noncommissioned
1-11     security officer with the intent to induce another to submit to the
1-12     person's pretended authority or to rely on the person's pretended
1-13     acts of a security officer; or
1-14                 (2)  knowingly purports to exercise any function that
1-15     requires registration as a noncommissioned security officer or a
1-16     security officer commission.
1-17           (b)  An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
1-18           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
