 1-6                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-7                                   AN ACT
 1-8     relating to the creation of a criminal offense for impersonating  a
 1-9     security officer regulated by the Texas Commission on Private
1-10     Security.
1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12           SECTION 1. Subchapter P, Chapter 1702, Occupations Code, is
1-13     amended by adding Section 1702.3875 to read as follows:
1-14           Sec. 1702.3875. IMPERSONATING SECURITY OFFICER; OFFENSE. (a)
1-15     A person commits an offense if the person:
1-16                 (1)  impersonates a commissioned or noncommissioned
1-17     security officer with the intent to induce another to submit to the
1-18     person's pretended authority or to rely on the person's pretended
1-19     acts of a security officer; or
1-20                 (2)  knowingly purports to exercise any function that
1-21     requires registration as a noncommissioned security officer or a
1-22     security officer commission.
1-23           (b)  An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
1-24           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
