                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the requirements for a meeting of a governmental body
 1-3     held by videoconference call.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Sections 551.127(b) and (d), Government Code, are
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  A meeting may be held by videoconference call only if a
 1-8     majority of the quorum of the governmental body is physically
 1-9     present at one location of the meeting.
1-10           (d)  The notice of a meeting to be held by videoconference
1-11     call must specify as a location of the meeting each [the] location
1-12     where a majority of the quorum of the governmental body will be
1-13     physically present and specify the intent to have a majority of the
1-14     quorum present at that location.  In addition, the notice of the
1-15     meeting must specify as a location of the meeting each other
1-16     location where a member of the governmental body who will
1-17     participate in the meeting will be physically present during the
1-18     meeting.  Each of the locations shall be open to the public during
1-19     the open portions of the meeting.
1-20           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
