                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the regulation of talent agencies.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Section 2105.001(1), Occupations Code, is amended
 1-5     to read as follows:
 1-6                 (1)  "Artist" means:
 1-7                       (A)  an actor who performs in [or a director of]
 1-8     a motion picture, [theatrical,] radio, or television[, or other
 1-9     entertainment] production; or
1-10                       (B)  [a musician or musical director;]
1-11                       [(C)  a writer;]
1-12                       [(D)  a cinematographer;]
1-13                       [(E)  a composer, lyricist, or arranger of
1-14     musical compositions;]
1-15                       [(F)]  a model[; or]
1-16                       [(G)  another individual who performs analogous
1-17     professional services in a motion picture, theatrical, radio,
1-18     television, or other entertainment production].
1-19           SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies only
1-20     to a violation of Chapter 2105, Occupations Code, that occurs on or
1-21     after the effective date of this Act.  A violation of that chapter
1-22     that occurs before the effective date of this Act is governed by
1-23     the law in effect immediately before the effective date of this
1-24     Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
 2-1           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 2-2     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 2-3     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 2-4     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 2-5     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
