1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the regulation of talent agencies.
1-9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-10 SECTION 1. Section 2105.001(1), Occupations Code, is amended
1-11 to read as follows:
1-12 (1) "Artist" means:
1-13 (A) an actor who performs in [or a director of]
1-14 a motion picture, [theatrical,] radio, or television[, or other
1-15 entertainment] production; or
1-16 (B) [a musician or musical director;]
1-17 [(C) a writer;]
1-18 [(D) a cinematographer;]
1-19 [(E) a composer, lyricist, or arranger of
1-20 musical compositions;]
1-21 [(F)] a model[; or]
1-22 [(G) another individual who performs analogous
1-23 professional services in a motion picture, theatrical, radio,
1-24 television, or other entertainment production].
1-25 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
1-26 to a violation of Chapter 2105, Occupations Code, that occurs on or
1-27 after the effective date of this Act. A violation of that chapter
1-28 that occurs before the effective date of this Act is governed by
1-29 the law in effect immediately before the effective date of this
1-30 Act, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
1-31 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-32 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-33 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1-34 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-35 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
