                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to legislative review of the statutory guidelines for
 1-3     child support and the possession of and access to a child.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 111.001(b), Family Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  Not later than December 1 of each odd-numbered
 1-8     [even-numbered] year, the Title IV-D agency shall submit a report
 1-9     to the standing committees of each house of the legislature having
1-10     jurisdiction over family law issues for use by the committee in
1-11     conducting the review required by Subsection (a).  The report must
1-12     contain[:]
1-13                 [(1)  economic data obtained from the United States
1-14     Department of Agriculture on the cost of raising children;]
1-15                 [(2)  an analysis of case data on the application of
1-16     and deviations from the child support guidelines; and]
1-17                 [(3)]  a summary of any federal legislation enacted
1-18     since the date of the last review.
1-19           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-20     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-21     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-22     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-23     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
