A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the regulation of certain extra job coordinators by the
1-3 Texas Commission on Private Security.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 1702.002, Occupations Code, is amended by
1-6 adding Subdivision (21) to read as follows:
1-7 (21) "Extra job coordinator" means a peace officer
1-8 who:
1-9 (A) is employed full-time by the state or a
1-10 political subdivision of the state; and
1-11 (B) schedules other peace officers to provide
1-12 guard, patrolman, or watchman services in a private capacity who
1-13 are:
1-14 (i) employed full-time by the state or a
1-15 political subdivision of the state; and
1-16 (ii) not employed by the extra job
1-17 coordinator.
1-18 SECTION 2. Section 1702.002(7), Occupations Code, as added
1-19 by the Act of the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating
1-20 to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, is
1-21 amended to read as follows:
1-22 (7) "Extra job coordinator" means a peace officer who:
1-23 (A) is employed full-time by the state or a
1-24 political subdivision of the state [municipality]; and
2-1 (B) schedules other peace officers to provide
2-2 guard, patrolman, or watchman services in a private capacity who
2-3 are:
2-4 (i) employed full-time by the state or a
2-5 political subdivision of the state [municipality]; and
2-6 (ii) not employed by the extra job
2-7 coordinator.
2-8 SECTION 3. (a) Section 1 of this Act takes effect only if
2-9 the Act of the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating to
2-10 nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, does
2-11 not take effect.
2-12 (b) Section 2 of this Act takes effect only if the Act of
2-13 the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating to
2-14 nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, takes
2-15 effect.
2-16 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2-17 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2-18 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2-19 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2-20 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
