1-7 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-8 AN ACT
1-9 relating to the regulation of certain extra job coordinators by the
1-10 Texas Commission on Private Security.
1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12 SECTION 1. Section 1702.002, Occupations Code, is amended by
1-13 adding Subdivision (21) to read as follows:
1-14 (21) "Extra job coordinator" means a peace officer
1-15 who:
1-16 (A) is employed full-time by the state or a
1-17 political subdivision of the state; and
1-18 (B) schedules other peace officers to provide
1-19 guard, patrolman, or watchman services in a private capacity who
1-20 are:
1-21 (i) employed full-time by the state or a
1-22 political subdivision of the state; and
1-23 (ii) not employed by the extra job
1-24 coordinator.
1-25 SECTION 2. Section 1702.002(7), Occupations Code, as added
1-26 by the Act of the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating
1-27 to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, is
1-28 amended to read as follows:
1-29 (7) "Extra job coordinator" means a peace officer who:
1-30 (A) is employed full-time by the state or a
1-31 political subdivision of the state [municipality]; and
1-32 (B) schedules other peace officers to provide
1-33 guard, patrolman, or watchman services in a private capacity who
1-34 are:
1-35 (i) employed full-time by the state or a
1-36 political subdivision of the state [municipality]; and
1-37 (ii) not employed by the extra job
1-38 coordinator.
1-39 SECTION 3. (a) Section 1 of this Act takes effect only if
1-40 the Act of the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating to
1-41 nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, does
1-42 not take effect.
1-43 (b) Section 2 of this Act takes effect only if the Act of
1-44 the 77th Legislature, Regular Session, 2001, relating to
1-45 nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted codes, takes
1-46 effect.
1-47 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-48 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-49 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1-50 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-51 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
