A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the requirement that the name of a state agency be
1-3 printed on certain state motor vehicles.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 721.003, Transportation Code, is amended
1-6 by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (e) to read as
1-7 follows:
1-8 (a) The governing bodies of the following state agencies or
1-9 divisions by rule may exempt from the requirements of Section
1-10 721.002 a motor vehicle that is under the control and custody of
1-11 the agency or division:
1-12 (1) Texas Commission on Fire Protection;
1-13 (2) Texas State Board of Pharmacy;
1-14 (3) Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental
1-15 Retardation;
1-16 (4) Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas;
1-17 (5) the institutional division or the pardons and
1-18 paroles division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice;
1-19 (6) Board of Pardons and Paroles;
1-20 (7) Parks and Wildlife Department;
1-21 (8) Railroad Commission of Texas;
1-22 (9) Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission;
1-23 (10) Texas Department of Banking [Department of
1-24 Texas];
2-1 (11) Savings and Loan Department [of Texas];
2-2 (12) Texas Juvenile Probation Commission;
2-3 (13) Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission;
2-4 (14) Texas Youth Commission; [and]
2-5 (15) Texas Lottery Commission;
2-6 (16) the office of the attorney general;
2-7 (17) Texas Department of Insurance; and
2-8 (18) an agency that receives an appropriation under an
2-9 article of the General Appropriations Act that appropriates money
2-10 to the legislature.
2-11 (e) A rule adopted by the Texas Lottery Commission under
2-12 Subsection (a) may exempt from the requirements of Section 721.002
2-13 only a motor vehicle used exclusively for surveillance purposes.
2-14 SECTION 2. Section 721.003(b), Transportation Code, is
2-15 repealed.
2-16 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
