                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the authority to impanel general jury panels in certain
 1-3     counties.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 62.016, Government Code, is amended by
 1-6     adding Subsection (k) to read as follows:
 1-7           (k)  In each county, other than a county with at least three
 1-8     district or criminal district courts, the judge of each justice,
 1-9     county, statutory county, and district court in the county may
1-10     impanel a general panel of jurors for service in those courts in
1-11     the same manner as the judges of district courts are required to
1-12     impanel a general jury panel under this section.
1-13           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
