                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the salaries of a county elections administrator and
 1-3     the administrator's employees.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 31.039(b), Election Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (b)  The commissioners court shall set [salary of the
 1-8     administrator may not exceed the salary paid to the county clerk,
 1-9     and] the salaries paid to the administrator and the administrator's
1-10     employees [may not exceed the salaries paid to the employees of the
1-11     county clerk in comparable positions].
1-12           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
