                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the administration of retirement systems for paid,
 1-3     partly paid, or volunteer fire fighters.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 21 (f), Texas Local Fire Fighters
 1-6     Retirement Act (Article 6243e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
 1-7     repealed.
 1-8           SECTION 2.  Section 21 A, Texas Local Fire Fighters
 1-9     Retirement Act (Article 6243e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
1-10     amended by adding the following and the subsequent sections
1-11     renumbered:
1-12           (f)  The fire fighters' pension commissioner shall hear
1-13     appeals as provided by this Act and may examine the records and
1-14     accounts of boards of trustees established under this Act and adopt
1-15     rules and prescribe forms for the administration of this Act and
1-16     shall classify and coordinate the reports of the various Boards of
1-17     Trustees and shall verify any and all applications of the Boards of
1-18     Trustees.
1-19           SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
