No. 1996 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 7, 2001; 1-3 May 7, 2001, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 10, 2001, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 5, Nays 0; May 10, 2001, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the designation of a segment of Loop 375 in El Paso 1-9 County as the Cesar Chavez Border Highway. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, 1-12 is amended by adding Section 225.046 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 225.046. CESAR CHAVEZ BORDER HIGHWAY. (a) Loop 375 1-14 between Zaragoza Avenue and Santa Fe Street in El Paso County is 1-15 designated as the Cesar Chavez Border Highway. 1-16 (b) The department shall design and construct markers 1-17 indicating the highway number, the designation as the Cesar Chavez 1-18 Border Highway, and any other appropriate information. 1-19 (c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the 1-20 highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. 1-21 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 1-22 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 1-23 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this 1-24 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 1-25 Act takes effect September 1, 2001. 1-26 * * * * *
