                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the operation of the advisory committees of the supreme
 1-3     court.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 22, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 22.020 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 22.020.  OPERATION OF SUPREME COURT ADVISORY COMMITTEES.
 1-8     (a) The supreme court shall adopt rules of order governing the
 1-9     meetings and hearings of any committee created by the court to
1-10     advise the court on the language and implementation of rules
1-11     governing practice and procedure in civil actions.
1-12           (b)  Chapters 551 and 552 apply to a committee described by
1-13     Subsection (a).
1-14           (c)  At least 72 hours before the scheduled time of a
1-15     meeting, hearing, or subcommittee meeting of a committee described
1-16     by Subsection (a), the supreme court shall publish notice of the
1-17     meeting or hearing in the Texas Register, in the Texas Bar Journal,
1-18     on the court's website, the Internet address of which is
1-19     www.supreme.courts.state.tx.us, and on the official posting boards
1-20     located in the State Capitol and the Capitol Extension.
1-21           SECTION 2. (a)  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
1-22           (b)  The supreme court shall enact rules required by Section
1-23     22.020, Government Code, as added by this Act, not later than
1-24     December 1, 2001.
