                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to compensation for services rendered at a polling place
 1-3     by election officers.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 32.091(a), Election Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  An election judge or clerk is entitled to compensation
 1-8     for services rendered at a precinct polling place at an hourly rate
 1-9     not to exceed the amount fixed by the appropriate authority, which
1-10     amount must be at least $6.  A judge or clerk may be compensated at
1-11     that rate for services rendered under Section 62.014(c).
1-12           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
