No. 2164 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 11, 2001; 1-3 May 11, 2001, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Administration; May 11, 2001, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 3, Nays 0; May 11, 2001, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the sale of Woodlawn by the State Preservation Board. 1-9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-10 SECTION 1. Section 443.025, Government Code, is amended by 1-11 adding Subsections (c) and (d) to read as follows: 1-12 (c) The board may sell Woodlawn at its fair market value. 1-13 The General Land Office shall transact the sale on behalf of the 1-14 board using procedures under Section 31.158(c), Natural Resources 1-15 Code. Proceeds from the transaction: 1-16 (1) shall be deposited in the Capitol renewal account 1-17 or its successor in function under Section 443.0103; and 1-18 (2) may be spent only for a purpose described by 1-19 Section 443.0103. 1-20 (d) In selling Woodlawn under Subsection (c), the board 1-21 shall add to the deed of Woodlawn a provision that requires the 1-22 purchaser to use the property in a manner that preserves the 1-23 historical character of Woodlawn, including its buildings, facades, 1-24 interior, and grounds. 1-25 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 1-26 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 1-27 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this 1-28 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 1-29 Act takes effect September 1, 2001. 1-30 * * * * *
