 1-7                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-8                                   AN ACT
 1-9     relating to the jurisdiction of the County Court at Law Number 4 of
1-10     Travis County.
1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12           SECTION 1. Section 25.2292(c), Government Code, is amended to
1-13     read as follows:
1-14           (c)  In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section
1-15     25.0003 and other law, the County Court at Law Number 4 of Travis
1-16     County has concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in state
1-17     jail felony and third degree felony cases involving family
1-18     violence, as defined by Section 71.004, Family Code.  The court
1-19     [County Court at Law Number 4 of Travis County] shall give
1-20     preference to cases in which family violence is alleged, including
1-21     cases under Title 4 [Chapter 71], Family Code.
1-22           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
