                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the scope of practice of a physician assistant acting
 1-3     in a delegated practice.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 204.202, Occupations Code, is amended by
 1-6     adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
 1-7           (e)  A physician assistant is the agent of the physician
 1-8     assistant's supervising physician for any medical services that are
 1-9     delegated by that physician and that:
1-10                 (1)  are within the physician assistant's scope of
1-11     practice; and
1-12                 (2)  are delineated by protocols, practice guidelines,
1-13     or practice directives established by the supervising physician.
1-14           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
