No. 2275 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House April 9, 2001; 1-3 April 9, 2001, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Jurisprudence; April 24, 2001, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 7, Nays 0; April 24, 2001, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the attorney general providing certain child support 1-9 enforcement information to the parties to a suit and to the public. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 231, Family Code, is amended 1-12 by adding Section 231.1165 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 231.1165. INFORMATION ON SERVICE OF CITATION. The Title 1-14 IV-D agency shall update the agency's child support automated 1-15 system to inform the parties in a suit of the service of citation 1-16 in the suit not later than the first business day after the date 1-17 the agency receives notice that citation has been served. The 1-18 information required by this section must be available by telephone 1-19 and on the Internet. 1-20 SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 231, Family Code, is amended 1-21 by adding Section 231.121 to read as follows: 1-22 Sec. 231.121. AVAILABILITY OF BROCHURES. The Title IV-D 1-23 agency shall ensure that all Title IV-D brochures published by the 1-24 agency are available to the public at courthouses where family law 1-25 cases are heard in the state. 1-26 SECTION 3. The Title IV-D agency shall perform a study of the 1-27 agency's current telephone interactive voice response system to 1-28 determine the feasibility of establishing a system to allow 1-29 placement of an automated outbound telephone call to provide notice 1-30 to the parties in a suit of significant actions in the suit, 1-31 including the completion of service of process. 1-32 SECTION 4.
