                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the authority of a municipality to dispose of airport
 1-3     property.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 22.024, Transportation Code, is amended by
 1-6     adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  A municipality with a population of 1.6 million or more
 1-8     may exchange, convey, sell, lease or otherwise dispose of land or
 1-9     any interest in real property related to a former military
1-10     installation or air navigation facility, in the manner or on the
1-11     terms the municipality considers to be in the best interest of the
1-12     municipality, not withstanding Subsection (a), provided that such
1-13     an exchange, conveyance, sale, lease or other disposal is carried
1-14     out as a component of targeted redevelopment of such real property
1-15     with aeorspace, aviation, or aircraft manufacturing firms of other
1-16     airport-related industrial parks or communities.
1-17           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
