No. 2334 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 7, 2001; 1-3 May 7, 2001, read first time and referred to Committee on State 1-4 Affairs; May 11, 2001, reported favorably by the following vote: 1-5 Yeas 8, Nays 0; May 11, 2001, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the designation of a portion of U.S. Highway 69 as the 1-9 Big Thicket National Preserve Parkway. 1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-11 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, is 1-12 amended by adding Section 225.046 to read as follows: 1-13 Sec. 225.046. BIG THICKET NATIONAL PRESERVE PARKWAY. (a) 1-14 U.S. Highway 69 between Interstate Highway 10 in Beaumont and Loop 1-15 287 in Lufkin is designated as the Big Thicket National Preserve 1-16 Parkway. 1-17 (b) The department shall design and construct markers 1-18 indicating the designation as the Big Thicket National Preserve 1-19 Parkway and any other appropriate information. 1-20 (c) The department shall erect a marker at each end of the 1-21 parkway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the parkway. 1-22 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a 1-23 vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 1-24 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this 1-25 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 1-26 Act takes effect September 1, 2001. 1-27 * * * * *
