1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to a court fee to be used for courthouse security in Webb
 1-3     County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 291.009(a), Local Government Code, is
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  In addition to any other fee authorized by law,
 1-8     including a fee for security under Section 291.008, the Webb County
 1-9     Commissioners Court may set a fee not to exceed $20 to be collected
1-10     at the time of filing in each civil case filed in the county court,
1-11     a county court at law, or a district court in Webb County.  The fee
1-12     shall be taxed as other costs.  The county is not liable for the
1-13     costs.
1-14           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-15     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-16     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-17     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-18     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
