1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to a study and report concerning the compensation received
1-3 by part-time and full-time faculty members at public institutions
1-4 of higher education.
1-5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-6 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is
1-7 amended by adding Section 61.0816 to read as follows:
1-8 Sec. 61.0816. FACULTY COMPENSATION DISPARITY STUDY AND
1-9 REPORT. (a) The board shall conduct a study and make findings and
1-10 recommendations the board considers appropriate regarding any
1-11 disparity between the salary and benefits received by part-time
1-12 faculty members and the salary and benefits received by full-time
1-13 faculty members at institutions of higher education.
1-14 (b) Not later than September 1, 2002, the board shall submit
1-15 to the governor and to the presiding officer of each house of the
1-16 legislature a written report summarizing the study, findings, and
1-17 recommendations of the board under Subsection (a). The information
1-18 in the report shall be reported without identifying specific
1-19 individuals.
1-20 (c) This section expires December 1, 2002.
1-21 SECTION 2. Not later than the 90th day after the effective
1-22 date of this Act, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
1-23 shall adopt rules to implement Section 61.0816, Education Code, as
1-24 added by this Act.
2-1 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
