No. 2397 By: Zaffirini 1-8 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-9 AN ACT 1-10 relating to a study and report concerning the compensation received 1-11 by part-time and full-time faculty members at public institutions 1-12 of higher education. 1-13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-14 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 61, Education Code, is 1-15 amended by adding Section 61.0816 to read as follows: 1-16 Sec. 61.0816. FACULTY COMPENSATION DISPARITY STUDY AND 1-17 REPORT. (a) The board shall conduct a study and make findings and 1-18 recommendations the board considers appropriate regarding any 1-19 disparity between the salary and benefits received by part-time 1-20 faculty members and the salary and benefits received by full-time 1-21 faculty members at institutions of higher education. 1-22 (b) Not later than September 1, 2002, the board shall submit 1-23 to the governor and to the presiding officer of each house of the 1-24 legislature a written report summarizing the study, findings, and 1-25 recommendations of the board under Subsection (a). The information 1-26 in the report shall be reported without identifying specific 1-27 individuals. 1-28 (c) This section expires December 1, 2002. 1-29 SECTION 2. Not later than the 90th day after the effective 1-30 date of this Act, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board 1-31 shall adopt rules to implement Section 61.0816, Education Code, as 1-32 added by this Act. 1-33 SECTION 3.
