                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the posting by an appraisal district of appraisal rolls
 1-3     on the Internet.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Chapter 25, Tax Code, is amended by adding Section
 1-6     25.025 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 25.025.  APPRAISAL ROLLS ON INTERNET. (a)  If an
 1-8     appraisal district owns, operates, or controls an Internet website,
 1-9     the chief appraiser shall publish on that website information from
1-10     the most recently approved appraisal roll and information from the
1-11     approved appraisal roll for the preceding year.
1-12           (b)  The appraisal roll information published on the
1-13     Internet, at a minimum, must:
1-14                 (1)  include a basic description of the property and
1-15     its appraised value, market value, and any applicable exemptions;
1-16     and
1-17                 (2)  be searchable according to the account number of
1-18     each property included in the appraisal roll, the physical address
1-19     of the property, and the name of the owner of the property.
1-20           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
