                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the jurisdiction of the 85th, 272nd, and 361st District
 1-3     Courts in Brazos County.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 24.187, Government Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 24.187.  85TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a)
 1-8     The 85th Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
 1-9           (b)  The 85th District Court has concurrent jurisdiction with
1-10     the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor cases
1-11     as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for district
1-12     courts.
1-13           (c)  The terms of the 85th District Court begin on the first
1-14     Mondays in April and October.
1-15           SECTION 2. Section 24.449, Government Code, is amended to
1-16     read as follows:
1-17           Sec. 24.449.  272ND JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a)
1-18     The 272nd Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
1-19           (b)  The 272nd District Court has concurrent jurisdiction
1-20     with the statutory county courts of Brazos County in misdemeanor
1-21     cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed by general law for
1-22     district courts.
1-23           (c)  The terms of the 272nd District Court begin on the first
1-24     Mondays in April and October.
 2-1           SECTION 3. Section 24.506, Government Code, is amended to
 2-2     read as follows:
 2-3           Sec. 24.506.  361ST JUDICIAL DISTRICT (BRAZOS COUNTY). (a)
 2-4     The 361st Judicial District is composed of Brazos County.
 2-5           (b)  The 361st District Court has concurrent [shall have and
 2-6     exercise] jurisdiction with the statutory county courts of Brazos
 2-7     County in misdemeanor cases as well as the jurisdiction prescribed
 2-8     by general law for district courts.
 2-9           (c)  The terms of the 361st District Court begin on the first
2-10     Mondays in April and October. 
2-11           SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
