A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the advisory committee for the Center for Rural Health
1-3 Initiatives.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Section 106.023(a), Health and Safety Code, is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (a) The advisory committee is composed of:
1-8 (1) the commissioner of public health or a
1-9 representative of the department designated by the commissioner;
1-10 (2) the commissioner of human services or a
1-11 representative of the Texas Department of Human Services designated
1-12 by the commissioner;
1-13 (3) the commissioner of agriculture or a
1-14 representative of the Department of Agriculture designated by the
1-15 commissioner;
1-16 (4) the executive director of the Texas Department of
1-17 Commerce or a representative of that department designated by the
1-18 executive director; [and]
1-19 (5) the commissioner of higher education or a
1-20 representative of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
1-21 designated by the commissioner;
1-22 (6) the presiding officer of the Health Professions
1-23 Council or a representative of the council designated by the
1-24 presiding officer;
2-1 (7) the presiding officer of the Telecommunications
2-2 Infrastructure Fund Board or a representative of the board
2-3 designated by the presiding officer;
2-4 (8) the executive director of the Board of Nurse
2-5 Examiners or a representative of the board designated by the
2-6 executive director;
2-7 (9) the chairman of the Texas Commission on Alcohol
2-8 and Drug Abuse or a representative of the commission designated by
2-9 the chairman;
2-10 (10) the executive director of the Texas Department on
2-11 Aging or a representative of the department designated by the
2-12 executive director;
2-13 (11) the commissioner of insurance or a representative
2-14 of the Texas Department of Insurance designated by the
2-15 commissioner;
2-16 (12) the commissioner of mental health and mental
2-17 retardation or a representative of the Texas Department of Mental
2-18 Health and Mental Retardation designated by the commissioner;
2-19 (13) the executive director of the Texas Department of
2-20 Transportation or a representative of the department designated by
2-21 the executive director;
2-22 (14) the director of the Office of State-Federal
2-23 Relations or a representative of the office designated by the
2-24 director;
2-25 (15) the commissioner of the Texas Rehabilitation
2-26 Commission or a representative of the commission designated by the
2-27 commissioner;
3-1 (16) the executive director of the Texas State Board
3-2 of Medical Examiners or a representative of the board designated by
3-3 the executive director;
3-4 (17) the dean of The Texas A&M University School of
3-5 Rural Public Health or a representative of the university
3-6 designated by the dean;
3-7 (18) the executive director of the Texas Institute for
3-8 Health Policy Research or a representative of the institute
3-9 designated by the executive director; and
3-10 (19) a representative of the United States Department
3-11 of Health and Human Services.
3-12 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
