                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     Relating to school bus passenger safety.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Section 34.002, Education Code, is amended by
 1-5     adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 1-6           (d)  In order to ensure the safety of school bus passengers,
 1-7     every bus shall have the following message prominently displayed in
 1-8     large, block letters on the back of the bus:
 1-9                    WARNING:  THIS BUS STOPS ALL R/R CROSSINGS.
1-10                  STATE LAW:  STOP WHEN RED LIGHTS ARE FLASHING.
1-11           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
