                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the amount of compensation and allowances for county
 1-3     auditors.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 152.032(a), Local Government Code, is
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (a)  The amount of the compensation and allowances of a
 1-8     county auditor may not exceed the amount of the compensation and
 1-9     allowances received from all sources by the county budget officer,
1-10     or in a county that does not have an office of county budget
1-11     officer, the amount of compensation and allowances received from
1-12     all sources by the highest paid elected county officer, other than
1-13     a judge of a statutory county court, whose salary and allowances
1-14     are set by the commissioners court.
1-15           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
