                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     Relating to the creation of pilot projects for demonstrating the
 1-3     application of technology to the provision of long-term care,
 1-4     community care, and certain other medical assistance.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Chapter 531, Health and Safety Code, is amended by
 1-7     adding section 531.02171 as follows:
 1-8           Sec. 531.02171.  ESTABLISHMENT OF PILOT PROGRAMS.
 1-9     Notwithstanding any other law, the commission may establish one or
1-10     more pilot projects allowing for reimbursement under Chapter 31,
1-11     Human Resource Code, to demonstrate the application of technology
1-12     in the provision of services.  A pilot project may, but is not
1-13     limited to, long term care, community care and supports,
1-14     rehabilitation, aging, disability.
1-15           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-16     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-17     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-18     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-19     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
