1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the authority of the commissioners court of a county to
 1-3     impose an application fee to be paid in connection with an
 1-4     application or request for county ad valorem tax abatement.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Section 312.002, Tax Code, is amended by adding
 1-7     Subsection (e) to read as follows:
 1-8           (e)  The guidelines and criteria adopted by the commissioners
 1-9     court of a county may include a requirement that an application or
1-10     request for tax abatement submitted to the county under this
1-11     chapter must be accompanied by a reasonable application fee not to
1-12     exceed $1,000.
1-13           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-14     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-15     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-16     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-17     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
