                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the placement of dredged material on beaches adjacent
 1-3     to navigation inlets and channels.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 33.602, Natural Resources Code, is amended
 1-6     by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  The commissioner shall adopt rules requiring that
 1-8     beach-quality sand dredged in constructing and maintaining
 1-9     navigation inlets and channels of the state be placed on eroding
1-10     beaches adjacent to the navigation inlets and channels wherever
1-11     practicable.
1-12           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
