1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to the compensation of commissioners and the tax rate of
1-9 the Brazoria County Conservation and Reclamation District Number
1-10 Three.
1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12 SECTION 1. Section 20, Chapter 307, Acts of the 61st
1-13 Legislature, Regular Session, 1969 (Article 8280-476, Vernon's
1-14 Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows:
1-15 Sec. 20. The commissioners shall each receive not exceeding
1-16 $100 [$20] for each day necessarily taken in the discharge of their
1-17 duties as such, plus reimbursement for travel, subsistence and
1-18 other necessary expenses incurred by them in the performance of
1-19 their duties, and they shall make a verified statement of said
1-20 services and expenses which must be approved by the board of
1-21 commissioners before payment is made by the district.
1-22 SECTION 2. Chapter 307, Acts of the 61st Legislature, Regular
1-23 Session, 1969 (Article 8280-476, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
1-24 amended by adding Section 36A to read as follows:
1-25 Sec. 36A. Notwithstanding the district charter, other
1-26 provisions of this Act, or other laws, the commissioners by
1-27 majority vote shall set a tax rate for maintenance taxes levied and
1-28 collected by the district not to exceed 15 cents on each $100 of
1-29 assessed valuation.
1-30 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-31 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-32 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
1-33 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-34 Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
