                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to a prohibition on the issuance of an inspection
 1-3     certificate.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 548.104(d), Transportation Code, is
 1-6     amended to read as follows:
 1-7           (d)  An inspection station or inspector may not issue an
 1-8     inspection certificate for a vehicle equipped with:
 1-9                 (1)  a carburetion device permitting the use of
1-10     liquefied gas alone or interchangeably with another fuel, unless a
1-11     valid liquefied gas tax decal issued by the comptroller is attached
1-12     to the lower right-hand corner of the front windshield of the
1-13     vehicle on the passenger side; [or]
1-14                 (2)  a sunscreening device prohibited by Section
1-15     547.613, except that the department by rule shall provide
1-16     procedures for issuance of an inspection certificate for a vehicle
1-17     exempt under Section 547.613(c); or
1-18                 (3)  a tire subject to a voluntary or involuntary
1-19     recall by a manufacturer or governmental entity.
1-20           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
