                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to payment schedules for certain land purchases by the
 1-3     state.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 2204, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 2204.0011 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 2204.0011.  PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR CERTAIN PURCHASES. On
 1-8     request of the owner of land being purchased by the state, payments
 1-9     by the state for the land shall be made over a period of at least
1-10     three years and not more than five years, as determined by the
1-11     owner, provided that:
1-12                 (1)  the owner is at least 65 years of age; and
1-13                 (2)  the purchase price of the land is at least
1-14     $50,000.
1-15           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001, and
1-16     applies only to a purchase of land made by the state on or after
1-17     that date.
