 1-7                            A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-8                                   AN ACT
 1-9     relating to the authority of chiropractors to form certain
1-10     professional associations.
1-11           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-12           SECTION 1.  Section 2(A), Texas Professional Association Act
1-13     (Article 1528f, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read
1-14     as follows:
1-15           (A)  Formation.  Any one or more persons duly licensed to
1-16     practice a profession, including podiatry, [or] dentistry, or
1-17     chiropractic, under the laws of this state may, by complying with
1-18     this Act, form a professional association, as distinguished from
1-19     either a partnership or a corporation, by associating themselves
1-20     for the purpose of performing professional services and dividing
1-21     the gains therefrom as stated in articles of association or bylaws.
1-22           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-23     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-24     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-25     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-26     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
