1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the expiration of certain subdivision plats.
 1-3           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-4           SECTION 1. Section 232.002, Local Government Code, is amended
 1-5     by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
 1-6           (c)  If no portion of the land subdivided under a plat
 1-7     approved under this section is sold or transferred before January 1
 1-8     of the 51st year after the year in which the plat was approved, the
 1-9     approval of the plat expires, and the owner must resubmit a plat of
1-10     the subdivision for approval.  A plat resubmitted for approval
1-11     under this subsection is subject to the requirements prescribed by
1-12     this chapter at the time the plat is resubmitted.
1-13           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-14     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-15     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-16     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-17     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
