                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation, composition, and operation of certain
 1-3     district courts.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
 1-6     amended by adding Section 24.542 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 24.542.  397TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (HIDALGO COUNTY). (a)
 1-8     The 397th Judicial District is composed of Hidalgo County.
 1-9           (b)  The 397th District Court shall give preference to cases
1-10     and proceedings under Title 3, Family Code.
1-11           SECTION 2.  Section 24.549, Government Code, is amended to
1-12     read as follows:
1-13           Sec. 24.549.  404TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (CAMERON AND WILLACY
1-14     COUNTIES [COUNTY]).  The 404th Judicial District is composed of
1-15     Cameron and Willacy counties [County].
1-16           SECTION 3.  (a)  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code,
1-17     is amended by adding Section 24.556 to read as follows:
1-18           Sec. 24.556.  412TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (FANNIN COUNTY). The
1-19     412th Judicial District is composed of Fannin County.
1-20           (b)  The heading to Section 24.106, Government Code, is
1-21     amended to read as follows:
1-22           Sec. 24.106.  6TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([FANNIN,] LAMAR[,] AND
1-23     RED RIVER COUNTIES).
1-24           (c)  Section 24.106(a), Government Code, is amended to read
 2-1     as follows:
 2-2           (a)  The 6th Judicial District is composed of [Fannin,]
 2-3     Lamar[,] and Red River counties.
 2-4           (d)  The heading to Section 24.482, Government Code, is
 2-5     amended to read as follows:
 2-6           Sec. 24.482.  336TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ([FANNIN AND] GRAYSON
 2-7     COUNTY [COUNTIES]).
 2-8           (e)  Section 24.482(a), Government Code, is amended to read
 2-9     as follows:
2-10           (a)  The 336th Judicial District is composed of [Fannin and]
2-11     Grayson County [counties].
2-12           SECTION 4.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
2-13     amended by adding Section 24.557 to read as follows:
2-14           Sec. 24.557.  413TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (JOHNSON AND SOMERVELL
2-15     COUNTIES).  The 413th Judicial District is composed of Johnson and
2-16     Somervell counties.
2-17           SECTION 5.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
2-18     amended by adding Section 24.558 to read as follows:
2-19           Sec. 24.558. 414TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (MCLENNAN COUNTY). The
2-20     414th Judicial District is composed of McLennan County.
2-21           SECTION 6.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is
2-22     amended by adding Section 24.560 to read as follows:
2-23           Sec. 24.560.  415TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (TRAVIS COUNTY). (a)
2-24     The 415th Judicial District is composed of Travis County.
2-25           (b)  The 415th Judicial District shall give preference to
2-26     civil cases.
2-27           SECTION 7. (a)  The 397th, 412th, 413th, 414th, and 415th
 3-1     judicial districts are created and this Act takes effect September
 3-2     1, 2001.
 3-3           (b)  The local administrative district judge shall transfer
 3-4     all cases from Fannin County that are pending in the 6th District
 3-5     Court or the 336th District Court on the effective date of this Act
 3-6     to the 412th District Court.
 3-7           (c)  When a case is transferred from one court to another as
 3-8     provided by Subsection (b) of this section, all processes, writs,
 3-9     bonds, recognizances, or other obligations issued from the
3-10     transferring court are returnable to the court to which the case is
3-11     transferred, as if originally issued by that court.  The obligees
3-12     in all bonds and recognizances taken in and for a court from which
3-13     a case is transferred, and all witnesses summoned to appear in a
3-14     court from which a case is transferred, are required to appear
3-15     before the court to which a case is transferred as if originally
3-16     required to appear before the court to which the transfer is made.
