                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to limitations on certain disciplinary actions by the
 1-3     commissioner of insurance or the Texas Department of Insurance.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 81.001(c), Insurance Code, is amended to
 1-6     read as follows:
 1-7           (c)  This section does not apply to conduct that is:
 1-8                 (1)  a violation that is ongoing at the time the
 1-9     department seeks to impose the sanction, penalty, or fine; or
1-10                 (2)  a violation of Article 21.21-6 of this code, as
1-11     added by Chapter 415, Acts of the 74th Legislature, Regular
1-12     Session, 1995, or Section 4(7)(a), Article 21.21 of this code, as
1-13     those provisions relate to discrimination on the basis of race or
1-14     color, regardless of the time the conduct occurs.
1-15           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
