                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to rules adopted by the Supreme Court of Texas regarding
 1-3     the practice of law in this state by attorneys licensed in other
 1-4     jurisdictions.
 1-5           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-6           SECTION 1. Rules of the Supreme Court of Texas or the State
 1-7     Bar of Texas adopted on or after the effective date of this Act
 1-8     regarding procedures for the practice of law in this state by an
 1-9     attorney licensed in another jurisdiction may not take effect until
1-10     the earlier of:
1-11                 (1)  the day of final adjournment of the 78th Regular
1-12     Session of the Texas Legislature; or
1-13                 (2)  the day of final adjournment of the first special
1-14     session of the legislature called on or after the effective date of
1-15     this Act.
1-16           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-17     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-18     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-19     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-20     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
