                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the creation of a net fishing season for certain
 1-3     freshwater fish.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 66, Parks and Wildlife Code,
 1-6     is amended by adding Section 66.1025 to read as follows:
 1-7           Sec. 66.1025.  SPECIAL NET FISHING SEASON ON FRESHWATER
 1-8     LAKES.  (a)  The commission shall provide for a net fishing season
 1-9     for the taking of rough fish from public freshwater lakes beginning
1-10     on June 1 and extending through June 30 of each year.
1-11           (b)  The commission shall:
1-12                 (1)  identify by proclamation:
1-13                       (A)  the specific species included in the
1-14     category of rough fish and publish and make available to the public
1-15     a list of those species; and
1-16                       (B)  the lakes in which fishing for rough fish is
1-17     allowed and publish and make available to the public a list of
1-18     those lakes; and
1-19                 (2)  establish by rule the types of nets that may be
1-20     used during the net fishing season.
1-21           (c)  This section does not authorize commercial net fishing
1-22     in public freshwater lakes.
1-23           SECTION 2. This Act takes effect on September 1, 2001.
