                                A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to the classification of the use of water for purposes of
 1-3     fees and regulations imposed by the Edwards Aquifer Authority.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1. Section 1.03, Article I, Act of May 30, 1993, 73rd
 1-6     Leg., R.S., Ch. 626, 1993 Tex. Gen. Laws 2353, is amended by adding
 1-7     new subdivisions (26) and (27) to read as follows:
 1-8                 (26)  "Agricultural use" means the use of water for
 1-9     irrigation, horticulture, or for the raising of livestock.
1-10                 (27)  "Non-agricultural use" means the use of water for
1-11     any other use than irrigation, horticulture, or raising livestock.
1-12           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1-13     a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1-14     provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
1-15     Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
1-16     Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
